Dave Davies (b1947) formed' "The Kinks" with his brother Ray. They were an English Rock Band formed in London in 1964. The Kinks are recognized as one of the most important and influential rock acts of the era. Dave Russel Gordon Davies was lead guitarist and Ray was lead vocals. He created a distorted power chord riff on his guitar that influenced many guitarists of the time. Their hits Included Lola and The Village Green Preservation society , You really got me. and Waterloo Sunset. He began a solo career in 1967 with his first single 'Death of a Clown'. The Kinks disbanded in 1996. Dave revived his solo career in 1980. Dave suffered a stroke in 2004.
