The Druids’ Circle prehistoric stone circle, Meini Hirion, Penmaenmawr. Looking south west. An embanked stone circle originally constructed of 30 stones in a flattened circle. Excavation revealed two child cremations, possible Bronze Age sacrifices, in a northern temple. Entrance at the west south west with the 2 (of 4) portals in line with major southern moonset. The axis of the oval ring (east south east-west north west) is suitable for May Day/Beltane sunset observations. Dated to some time between 3000 to 1400BC. Some suggetsion it is built on the side of a prehistoric routeway.
