Shuttle photograph of the northern Caribbean Sea including the peninsula of Florida (shown at the top). Cuba appears in the centre foreground and the island of Andros in the Bahamas to the right of the frame. Note that areas of the sea which are relatively shallow appear to be of a lighter shade of blue; the Great Bahama Bank (just west of Andros) and the Golfo de Batabano (off the southern coast of Cuba) both exhibit this phenomenon.
