Akha woman in Kengtung, Burma / Myanmar

An Akha woman never removes this head dress. The Akha homeland spans the borders of Thailand, Burma, Laos and China's Yunnan Province. The Eastern Shan State is accessible by road from northern Thailand, an exception to Burma's usual stringent ban on foreigners entering by land.
