Pleasley pit


Pleasley pit country park. Coal mining began at Pleasley in 1873 .The waste which was excavated from the mine was tipped on nearby fields, eventually the soil covered 150 acres. The pit closed in 1983 and the tips have now been landscaped and converted into a nature reserve.
