Cosmetic skin treatment. Amount of pigmentation in a woman's skin being measured with a ChromoTest device. Skin pigment is determined by the level of melanin in melanocyte skin cells. Information about skin pigmentation is required before laser skin treatment, so that the laser can be calibrated correctly. Lasers are used cosmetically to reduce the depth of wrinkles, for hair removal, and to remove thread veins. If the laser is too strong, it may damage the skin. Conversely, if it is too weak it may not produce the desired effect.
