Loch Katrine, The Trossachs, Scotland, UK.

The largest Loch in the Trossachs, Lake Katrine is 8 miles long and lies to the east of Loch Lomond. Its name derives from the Gaelic 'cateran' meaning a highland robber, the most notorious of which was Rob Roy MacGregor who was born at the northern end of the Loch. Sir Walter Scott's best-selling poem "The Lady of the Lake" published in1809 popularised the loch, which also inspired the poets Samuel Coleridge and William Wordsworth. Loch Katrine is a source of pure water for Glasgo and remains a very popular holiday destination.
