Edison, ofMenlo Park, in the State of New Jersey, haveinvented an Improvement in Speaking-Tele-graphs, of which the following is a specifica-tion. I make use of two or more cells containinga mobile fluid, and these fluids are insulatedfrom each other, except when they come to-gether at a narrow opening or space, and theteis an electrode in each cell, and the diaphragmor other body vibrated by the atmosphericsound-waves regulates the opening or the press-ure at this point, so as to vary the electric ten-sion on the line to correspond with the sound-vibrations.
