1930 Lord Lansbury ( Commissioner of Works, George Lansbury) in bowler hat inaugurating the Hyde Park Serpentine Lido for mixed bathing. It was half funded with a donation from Major Colin Cooper (1892–1938) ---George Lansbury ( 1859 – 1940) was a British politician and social reformer and a one time leader of the Labour Party (originally a radical Liberal) who fought against injustice & authority who had vested interests. He promoted disarmament and helped to establish the Daily Herald newspaper, becoming its editor.
