View SSW of the Medieval Church of St Cenydd at Llangennith, Gower, Wales, UK, where St Kenyd established his monastery in the C6th. Destroyed by Vikings in 986, the actual site is under the outbuildings of College Farm (rear R) where there was a Medieval college & priory. Said to have been the illegitimate son of Gildas (or a knight of King Arthur) St Kyned was born with a deformed leg as a punishment on his parents. Cast adrift in a cradle he floated out to sea, was rescued by birds then looked after by angels at various locations on the Gower. He is reputed to be buried in the church.
