Observed by villagers and children, hussars load a cart with sacks of grain and requisition a goat and a sheep in a market place in front of a church, on the right a cuirassier and an ordnance officer talking with town councillors. 70 x 98 cm. In a gilded empire frame, 83 x 113 cm. Pius Ferdinand Messerschmitt studied between 1888 and 1898 at the Munich Art Academy under Benczur, Hackl and Lindenschmit.
