Osun Osogbo, Osun Sacred Grove and River: A bridge across Osun River.

The Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove is a large cultural landscape of undisturbed forest and shrines along the course of the fast-flowing River Osun. The river, a personification of the fertility deity and the grove, an ancient protected forest with diversity of trees and shrubs, are the locus of the annual Osun festival in August. Within the forest are modern sculptures, shrines and sanctuaries honouring Osun, goddess of fertility and other Yoruba deities. The Osun Sacred Grove—harbouring the original settlement of Laroye and the earliest settlement—was designated a World Heritage Site in 2005.
