Y., in 1797. In this city he was educated, and at theconclusion of his academic course he purposed adopting themedical profession, and prosecuted the study of chemistry,anatomy, and physiology with that end in view. At thesame time he became known as a writer of papers on scien-tific topics, and in 1825 he unexpectedly received an appoint-ment as assistant engineer on the survey of a route for astate road from the Hudson River to Lake Erie. We findhim next elected to the chair of Mathematics and NaturalPhilosophy in the Albany Academy, and in 1832 he became 381. THE HALL OF FAME
