PHILIPPINE SEA (March 3, 2017) Marines, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), offload cargo from a CH-53E Super Stallion on the flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). The Super Stallion is used primarily for Airborne Mine Countermeasures, with secondary missions of vertical shipboard delivery and assault support. Bonhomme Richard is on a routine patrol, operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to serve as a forward-capability for any type of contingency.
