Louis Renault in the driver's seat of a Voiturette Renault 1¾ hp, 1899. Surrounded by onlookers. In 1898 Louis Renault built his first car, the Voiturette, a two seater with a direct-drive gear box. The following year he founded Renault Fréres with his older brothers.
