As Bulgaria’s first dedicated creative district, Kapana is a charming arts and cultural destination where cobblestone streets give way to restored buildings with art galleries and specialty shops. Plovdiv historically known as Philippopolis, is the second-largest city in Bulgaria, standing on the banks of the Maritsa river in the historical region of Thrace. The city has historically developed on seven syenite hills. It is an important economic, transport, cultural, and educational center and was elected as the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
