An Army Soldier takes off from the starting line of the 1,000 meter run, two and a half laps on the track, during the German Armed Forces Badge for military Proficiency event at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., Nov. 1, 2016. The runner starts at the 200-meter mark and must run two complete laps of the race, the runner’s time is recorded to the second. There is a bronze, silver and gold ranking system used from the total of all six events.
