For years there has been a call from farmers for a Corn Belt Oats. Hundreds of farm- ers had despaired of ever making money on oats, for two seemingly reasons: Firstly, it was con- tended that no oats on the market could stand up good in corn or bottom land and fill out as it ought to; secondly, oats were too susceptible to rust, which means invariable loss of crop. Here we have an oat that is bred for this spec- ial purpose and will be of untold value to farm- ers in the Corn Belt. This New Corn Belt Oat matures early enough to escape Hot Winds and the Rust which follows, wilts the grain; is three times the size of the six- ty day type and is an enormous yielder. The straw is strong and can positively be de- pended upon not to lodge even under most ex- treme conditions, the quality of straw being such as in itself makes remarkable good and nutritious fodder. Look at the pedigree of this valuable New Oats, bred from that money maker, "Regenerated Swedish Select," crossed on "Garton's Senator," and exceptionally strong-strawed oat which ma- tures extremely early. It is certainly an ideal combination, as from one of its parents, "Senator," we get extreme ear- liness, practically immune from rust, and straw of enormous strength, while the merits of its other parent, "Regenerated Swedish Select," are so well-known and universally acknowledged as a great yielder and drought resister that it leaves little more to be desired. Barton's No. 5 is without the shadow of doubt the
