The Mass Stone near the Gothic mock castle gate-house built circa 1819 at Baile Mhic Airt Lower in An Rinn, County Waterford, Ireland
The Gothic mock castle built as a gatehouse around 1819 at Baile Mhic Airt Lower in An Rinn, County Waterford, Ireland was one element of the plans to develop and Member of Parliament for Waterford at Westminster between 1832 and 1870. The plans for An Rinn were abandoned and the romantic, moody and abandoned folly surrounded by wintry trees is now a farm building sharing a field with a Mass rock, seen in the foreground, used in mid-17th century when Catholic Mass was deemed illegal in Ireland.
