Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Wasp-like ant (Pseudomyrmex brunnea). Pseudomyrmex is a genus of stinging ants in the family Formiciae (subfamily Pseudomyrmecinae). They are wasp-like ants that have large compound eyes and slender bodies. Pseudomyrmex brunnea is a fast moving species that makes its nest in hollow twigs, galls or other cavities in plants. It is found mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. Magnification: x6 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
