The Window of Remembrance, at the Berlin Wall Memorial, was built 2010 to remember the victims of the Berlin Wall. The memorial, in corroded metal, to simulate the division of the Iron Curtain, includes photographs, dates of birth and death of people escaping or deemed to be escaping by the border guards. The top row, left to right, includes: Hermann Dobler (28/10/1922-15/6/1965) shot, aged 42, when piloting his boat too near the border in the Teltow Canal, no intention to escape; Walter Kittel (21/11/1942-18/10/1965) shot, aged 23, after surrendering, the boarder guard responsible found guilty of murder in 1992; Erich Kuhn (27/2/1903-3/12/1965) dying of peritonitis after being shot, aged 62; Jorg Hartmann (27/10/1955-14/3/1966) shot, aged 10; Eberhard Schultz (11/3/1946-30/3/1966) shot, aged 20; Eduard Wroblewski (3/3/1933-26/7/1966) shot, aged 33; Karl-Heinz Kube (19/4/1949-16/12/1966) shot, aged 17; Max Sahmland (28/3/1929-27/1/1967) shot, aged 37, his body discovered 8 March 1967. The Middle Row includes: Klaus Kritzel (3/31940-8/8/1965) hit by train, aged 25; Heinz Cyrus (5/6/1936-11/11/1965) dying, aged 29, after escaping from 4th floor window; Heinz Schoneberger (7/6/1938-26/12/1965) shot, aged 27; Dieter Brandes (23/10/1946-11/11966) dying from injuries, aged 19, after being shot in June 1965; Luthar Schleusner (14/1/1953-14/3/1966) shot, aged 13; Michael Kollender (19/2/1945-25/4/1966) shot, aged 21; Heinz Schmidt (26/10/1919-29/8/1966) shot in Spandau Ship Canal, aged 46; Franciszek Presik (23/11/1942-17/10/1967) drowned, aged 24. The Bottom Row includes: Heinz Sokolowski (17/12/1917-25/11/1965) shot, aged 47; Willi Block (5/6/1934-7/2/1966 shot, aged 31; Willi Marzahn (3/6/1944-19/3/1966) shot in fire-fight, aged 21; Paul Stretz (28/2/1935-29/4/1966) shot, aged 31, no intention to escape, bathing in the Spandau Ship Canal, after drinking earlier in the evening; Andreas Senk (1960-13/9/1966), drowning in the River Spree, aged 6, guards obstructing rescue.
