Historical illustration of the human arm revealing the arteries of the arm, forearm and hand along the anterior aspect.

Arm arteries. Historical illustration of the arteries of the arm, forearm and the hand as they lie along the anterior aspect of the limb. In the first image the skin and fascia are removed to reveal the brachial artery in the upper limb and the radial artery in the forearm. The ulnar artery can be seen to the lower right hand side. The ulnar artery terminates in the superficial arch formed in the palm. In the second image some muscle has been cut away to bring the deep vessels into view. In addition to the brachial and radial arteries the ulnar artery can now be seen in more detail. Colour lithograph by Fairland from The Vessels of the Human Body 1837.
