He has been railroading since1852 and running an engine on the district wide by 170 feet long, two stories andbasement, and built on the usual machine-shop gallery style of construction. Atraveling crane, 30 feet wide, runs the fulllength of the building, leaving galleries onthe second floor, on both sides, 30 feetwide. The construction is steel through-out and designed to safely carry a load of300 pounds per square foot. This buildingwas erected for the purpose of taking careof three important departments of thecompany, viz.: iron valve, injector andsafety valve. It is a model machine shopand is equipped throughout with the verylatest tools and appliances. The steamplant consists of a 125 horse-power specialBabcock & Wilcox boiler, built for a safeworking pressure of 400 pounds per squareinch. In connection with this boiler there.
