Wormhole in the Big Bang. Computer artwork of a wormhole (connected funnels) created during the Big Bang (white 'star' at lower centre). Wormholes are tunnels between two points in space and time, as a theoretical solution to Einstein's equations of space-time. Space and time are treated as a single, unified entity called space-time, seen by the grid pattern at each end of the wormhole. It is believed that wormholes formed during the inflationary period of the Big Bang where all matter in the universe expanded from an infinitely compact state billion years ago.
