Besides the internationally known Crescents,the City of Churches has at one time and another been thecenter and operating base for some six teams composed ofschoolboys. An interscholastic league started in 1916 torevive the game among the schoolboys who had been lettingit lapse somewhat is the big reason for the interest in thegame throughout the East at the present time. The high schools comprising the first league were ManualTraining, Erasmus Hall, Boys High, Jamaica, Flushing, Prep and Stevens Prep of Hoboken. The conclusionof the first championship tournament gave the title to BoysHigh, which beat out Manual for the only time in the historyof Lacrosse at the latter school.
