His house was made the headquarters for the law-abiding citi-zens of his community, and members of the family were obliged to remainon upper floors to escape violence from prowling Mollies for a period ofseven months. Though Mr. Reese was fired at on four different occasions,and his clothing pierced with bullets, he escaped personal injury from thatsource.
