La Rinconada, a gold mining town in the Andes, Peru. Located at over 5000 meters it is regarded as the highest inhabited town or city in the world. Tens of thousands of Peruvians flock to La Rinconada to mine for gold in dangerous and harsh conditions. Many are killed or injured, and are forced yo work under the 'Cachorreo' work system, which means they spend a month working for the mine manager with no pay and then get one day to mine as much as they can for themselves.
