Nel-son, after the common manner of farmers boys, attend-ing district school, and on the farm, passed theyears away until nineteen, when the family removed toMichigan, settling down in the wilderness. Only six fam-ilies were then living in Eaton Rapids, and three betweentheir home and Charlotte. This was in 1838.
