Tongue wart. Clinical view of the inside of a patient's mouth, showing a papilloma (wart) on the underside of the tongue. This is a growth caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). There are over thirty types of HPV. Some warts spontaneously disappear, while others may need to be surgically removed. Retractors (far left and far right) have been used to open the mouth.
