To Commodore Whitaker belongs the honor of build-ing and managing the first steamboat ever sailed on the Contoo-cook river. His steamer, the ATodena, is a fine boat, accommo-dating two hundred passengers, and makes regular trips duringthe summer season up the river some six miles or more, a mostdelightful ride either by day or by moonlight.
