1911 London B type bus at Imperial War Museum London England


This London B type bus built in 1911 was one of 300 requisitioned by The British Army in October 1914 for adaptation and use on the WW1 Western Front At the time there was a shortage of motor vehicles It was subsequently reused in London and eventually refurbished and named Old Bill after Bruce Bairnsfather s wartime cartoon character It was then shown in various armistice parades and other special occasions until 1970 when it was presented to the museum
