It was designedby John Sweetman, an exile of 98, who furnished a complete model, and secretlyvisited Ireland after its completion to see it. From the purchase of the site to 378 PICTURESQUE IRELAND. the dedication was some twenty-two years, owing to want of means. The inte-rior consists of a lengthened nave and side aisles, divided by stately rows of mass-ive Doric columns supporting an architrave and entablature, and an arched ceilingsurmounted by a lofty dome.
