The regi-ment continued the march, viaPoolsville, New Market and Man-chester, to Westminister, a placenoted for its Catholic going into camp here at8 P. M. of July 1st, news was received of the battle goingon at Gettysburg, thirty-six miles away. The corps was atonce put in motion, our brigade leading, but after marchingtwo miles it was found that the guide had taken the wrongroad.
