In our particularcase, this was found to be fast enough, but of course astronger solution would work faster if this werenecessary. Flake caustic is used in preference to the powderedform because there is no objectionable dust when charg-ing the tank and the cost is about the same. It was of course necessary to guard against personsfalling into the lye, and as a fixed rail would be moreor less in the way of the opei
