Machrie Moor Stone Circle, Isle of Arran, Scotland.

A fine collection of circles can be found on Machrie Moor, on the Isle of Arran. The photograph shows the main stone circle which contains three upright red sandstone pillars, the tallest of which is just over 18 feet high. They are thought to date from the Bronze age. The mountains in the background include Goat Fell, the highest point on Arran.
