Thiscauses that portion of the load resting onthe flange to have an angle of repose suchas will more easily prevent the loss of coalthan when heaped on the plain or straightsides, for the reason that the flange is per-pendicular to the thrust of the load on it. The designer believes that it will not bediflicult for the practical man to see thatthis car has the following good points to push his arm through while startingthe light, but it is a poor plan at best, andcomparatively few head
