The World War II memorial on the mall is located between the National Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. The beautiful outdoor memorial honors the 16 million soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen who fought shoulder to shoulder with allies to defeat fascism, dictatorship and tyranny. The memorial was dedicated in 2004. Senator Bob Dole was associated with the fund-raising for the project.
