Hospitalman Leofried A. Buning applies a tourniquet to his patient during a deployment for training exercise at Fort Pickett, Va., Dec. 7, 2016. The Navy Corpsman support Marines by conducting medical training such as the Combat Life Savers Course while also providing medical aid to Marines when needed. The tourniquet will stop the blood flow to a wounded appendage to prevent severe blood loss. Buning is a hospitalman assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division.
