Lai, Afong, photographer (Chinese, about 1839 - 1890) about 1870–1885 View of the Hall of Five Hundred Arhats at Hualin Temple, also known as the Temple of the Five Hundred Gods or Genii. The hall is lined with a number of statues of monks. At the crossing of the hall is a small statue of a seated Buddha on a pagoda-like altar. A railing can be seen in the foreground. (Recto, mount) lower center, in black ink: "Canton. a [sic] Temple.";
