Sophie, Countess of Wessex GCVO, DStJ, wife of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex at the unveiling of a plaque at the official opening of the Whiston multi-million pound Hospital, one of the largest acute hospitals in Merseyside. The Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital provides world class care to patients from across Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
THE Countess of Wessex marked the completion of the redevelopment of Whiston Hospital, when she performed the official opening ceremony. During the visit Sophie, chatted to patients, staff and volunteers on several wards in the hospital. A spokesperson from St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust said that the re-development has been the “biggest and most significant project” in their history and the largest investment in healthcare in this area since the formation of the NHS.
