Detonating cord is rolled out to a safe distance before a pit of UXOs is destroyed at a location near Mogadishu, Somalia, on May 9. Over 75 kilos of unexploded ordinances (UXOs), captured from al-Shabaab militants, are destroyed outside of Mogadishu at a safe location. A team, aided by the UN Somalia Mine Action agency and consisting of soldiers from Burundi and Uganda, dispose of weapons on a weekly basis in order to ensure the weapons no longer pose a risk to civilians.
