Biloxi, MS, May 5, 2015 - Jefferson Davis Home (Beauvoir), Biloxi, Mississippi. Built in 1852 by plantation owner James Brown on the Gulf Coast in Biloxi, Mississippi, Beauvoir (&"beautiful view";) became the post-Civil War retirement home of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. An example of a Louisiana &"raised cottage-style"; plantation residence, Beauvoir has withstood 18 hurricanes. Beauvoir was most recently damaged in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina and restored with Public Assistance (PA) from FEMA.
