The Essex Bridge crossing the Trent River has stood since the 16th century. It’s 14 arches led us to the beautiful Shugborough Estate.

The estate is connected to Little Haywood by the Essex Bridge, an historic packhorse bridge of fourteen arches. In the eighteenth century the bridge had about forty arches.
