The gasmay also be evolved from the action of hydrochloricacid upon the sulphide of iron, but as it is then impregnated with the vapour of the. HYDROSULPIIURIC ACID. 307 latter acid, and may also, like every gas produced with effervescence, carry overdrops of fluid, it should always be transmitted through water in a wash-bottle, beforebeing applied to any purpose as pure gas.
