The anchor is a common Christian symbol of hope in future existance, also a symbol of safety, hope, steadfastness, calm, and composure. From the Biblical quote “Hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast…”The Broken Pillar or column represents a life cut short; someone who died young, before reaching old age, or died in their prime.
