This week the roses are arriving in bet- ter shape and selling well. M. Aronson is receiving good gladioli from Woodward, of Saxonville, the best varieties being Spring Song, Halley, Lily Lehman, Emperor of India aiul Chicago White. Blue bachelor's buttons, which used to be poj)ular market flowers, now are in decided disfavor. The only way they can be sold to advantage is for use in tricolor boutonnieres. Too bad that prejudice should spoil the sales of a ])retty, old-fashioned and innocent flower. Peter Fisher started housing his car- nations August 6. Thanks to the aid of the Skinner system of irrigation, his l)lants are fine, much better than if they had been housed before the late heat wave. He is cutting good Ophelia roses.
