One front oilthis museum (shown in the previous page) is in Piccadilly, theapartments at this end of the building being occupied by the library,palseoutological office, model-room, laboratory, and the offices of thedirector and secretary; the other front, which is the chief entranceto the museum, is in Jermyn Street. The objects of this establishment are to exhibit all the practicalapplications, in the most extended sense, which have been made of thegeological and mirieralogical formations of the United Kingdom. Themanner in which this has been accomplished will be understood fromthe following summary of the arrangements. On entering from Jermyn Street, we find a very spacious hall (seeabove), which is devoted to the exhibition of all the building and orna-mental stones of these islands.
