PHILIPPINE SEA (September 18, 2018) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) 3rd Class Hailey Barela, from Rio Rancho, New Mexico, inspects a hold-back bar prior to flight operations on the flight deck of the Navy’s forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) during Valiant Shield 2018. The biennial, only, field-training exercise focuses on integration of joint training among the Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. This is the seventh exercise in the Valiant Shield series that began in 2006.
