Amling and his wife are found to have contracted severe cases of the California fever. As there is only one remedy, Mr. Amling has de- cided to offer his Maywood greenhouse establishment for sale. The place has paid him handsomely. When a pur- chaser is found who has the necessary capital, removal to California will fol- low. Joseph Steiskal. formerly with the E. C. Amling Co., has joined the force of Wehrnian & Welirman, successors to Mrs. Fred Weber. The roses now reach mar- ket so perfectly graded they need no rehandling. Azaleas no longer are among the reg- ular items of Easter stock; indeed, a jood azalea is quite a novelty, because af the war and then the quarantine. Bnt the Fleisehman Floral Co. has a large and finely flowered if not perfectly shaped plant of the old favorite, Ver- vaeneana, as the central feature of one of its windows. It is a plant grown on "t Eureka, and flowered by Frank )('chslin. It is about a year since Amling Bros., /"^rnst and Paul, took over the green- houses of Iloerber Bros. Co., at Desplaines. It has been a busy year, as the jdace has been almost completely rejdanted with newer varieties of roses, bnt in spite of the extra cost and re- duced production there has been a good ])rofit on the original cash investment of $90,000, with the range now ap- proaching tip top shape.
