It was a dark and stormy night, and the otiicer of the watch was not a, little sur- prised to see a wet, dirty figure coming on board dragging a wild goose by the neck. The cabin- door sentry wanted to stop me, but I explained that I was the captain's cook of the Druid, and wished to see the ca]itain; so was atimitted, and we had a good time together.
